Business Development Manager
Overview
DSJ Global is partnered with a rapidly growing consumer goods manufacturer in the confection and snacks industry seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead strategic sales growth across the Western United States. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to drive regional expansion while collaborating directly with senior commercial leadership.
Role Summary
The Business Development Manager will oversee regional sales strategy, manage broker networks, and develop strong customer partnerships across key retail and distribution channels. This individual will play a critical role in identifying growth opportunities, analyzing category trends, and elevating the company's presence within an extremely competitive market. Travel is required approximately 35 to 40 percent to support customer visits, trade shows, and broker management.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute regional and corporate sales strategies to achieve annual business goals
- Lead and develop broker partners, setting SMART goals and monitoring performance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers across the West Region
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, pricing, and promotional strategies
- Prepare sales presentations, deliver accurate forecasts, and manage trade planning tools
- Investigate and resolve customer issues while collaborating with cross‑functional teams
- Provide consistent reporting, updates, and communication to internal leadership
- Attend relevant trade shows and customer events
- Conduct regular broker communication and in‑market visits as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of sales experience in the candy, snack, or broader CPG industry
- Must have experience working alongside a broker
- Associate degree or higher, preferably in business or related field
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to perform in a fast‑paced, competitive environment
- Self‑motivated with excellent judgment and problem‑solving abilities
- Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, CRM systems, and other standard business software
