Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Plant Director to lead operations at our sawmill facility in Georgia. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant performance, including production, safety, quality, and workforce development. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Direct all plant operations, including production, maintenance, safety, and logistics, to ensure efficiency and profitability.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term strategies to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop plant staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations, and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage plant budgets, capital expenditures, and cost control initiatives.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements across the mill to increase throughput and reduce waste.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with corporate leadership, supply chain, and sales teams to align plant operations with business goals.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in sawmill or wood products manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven success in managing large-scale industrial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of lumber grading, drying, and cutting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive performance improvements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Forestry, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems and production analytics tools.
  • Strong understanding of regional forestry and lumber markets.
