Regional Sales Director - Automotive
Overview
A leading global third-party logistics (3PL) provider is seeking a Regional Sales Director - Automotive to drive growth and strategic expansion within its automotive vertical. This role is responsible for developing and executing national sales strategies, building high-level client relationships, and delivering tailored logistics solutions to meet the complex needs of automotive customers.
Location: Remote/Hybrid (Atlanta, GA; Detroit, MI; Dallas, TX; Chicago, IL)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a national strategy for the automotive vertical to achieve revenue, margin, and market share targets
- Lead business development initiatives, including identifying new opportunities, managing RFP/RFQ responses, and securing large-scale automotive contracts
- Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with key automotive clients
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and finance teams to design and implement customized 3PL solutions
- Ensure solutions meet automotive requirements for quality, delivery precision, and cost efficiency
- Travel up to 50% as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles
- Deep expertise in the automotive industry, including:
- OEM and Tier supplier logistics
- Just-in-Time (JIT) / Just-in-Sequence (JIS) processes
- Finished vehicle transportation
- Parts sequencing
- Proven success in a 3PL or logistics services environment, with a strong track record of client acquisition and account growth
- Solid understanding of automotive supply chain challenges (e.g., demand volatility, quality standards, global sourcing)
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Experience managing P&L and driving financial performance within a vertical market
