Position Overview
The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for supporting automation, reliability, inspection, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and investigating programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and other automated systems on the manufacturing floor.


Key Responsibilities

  • Modify Siemens 505 & S7 PLCs and Wonderware HMIs.
  • Select, install, configure, and calibrate industrial sensors such as proximity sensors and thermocouples.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and actively participate in plant safety programs.
  • Conduct safety and efficiency testing on equipment.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Identify and obtain necessary parts for electrical maintenance and repairs.
  • Transport parts and equipment between work sites as needed.
  • Use electrical hand tools and diagnostic devices to measure voltage and amperage.
  • Perform electrical repairs in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
  • Install and route conduit, pull electrical cable and wire, and manage related materials.
  • Train operators on new systems and update lockout/tagout (LOTO) and SOP documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role involves working around moving mechanical parts, at heights, and in environments where dust, fumes, chemicals, heat, and noise may be present. The technician must be able to recognize and mitigate these risks by following all safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
