Manager, Fleet Operations
The Manager, Fleet Operations is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of the company's fleet and related facilities. This includes managing vehicle upkeep, coordinating third-party service providers, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and leading a team of maintenance and sanitation personnel. The role requires a hands-on leader with strong organizational and communication skills to drive safe, cost-effective, and reliable fleet operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations related to fleet maintenance, vehicle safety inspections, sanitation, and grounds upkeep using tracking software and preventative maintenance schedules.
 - Assign and monitor fleet-related projects to ensure quality and timely completion. Train staff on preferred work methods and safety protocols.
 - Foster a culture of safety across all fleet operations, ensuring all associates work in a safe and injury-free environment. Enforce company policies and procedures consistently.
 - Lead staffing efforts including hiring, training, performance management, and scheduling. Maintain open communication with team members to support morale and productivity.
 - Manage relationships with third-party vendors including vehicle maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, sanitation services, and security contractors. Ensure all vendors maintain proper insurance and compliance documentation.
 - Oversee the selection, purchase, and inventory of fleet assets and equipment. Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely repairs and upgrades.
 - Prepare and manage budgets, capital requests, and cost-saving initiatives related to fleet operations. Identify and implement efficiency improvements.
 - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA, EPA). Conduct audits and maintain documentation for inspections and certifications.
 - Collaborate with the Safety department to support training, incident investigations, and routine safety inspections. Coordinate emergency response and maintain relationships with local emergency services.
 - Perform other duties as assigned.

- Direct Reports: Fleet Maintenance Technicians, Sanitation Staff
 
Relationships
- Internal: Operations, Safety, and other cross-functional departments
 - External: Third-party contractors and service providers
 
Work Environment
- Combination of office and field work. Exposure to various climates and warehouse conditions, including cold storage environments.
 
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet or maintenance management
 - Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, regulatory compliance, and safety standards
 - Proven leadership and team management skills
