Global Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

Our client is seeking a Global Category Manager to lead outsourcing strategies for R&D. This role manages a major global spend category, driving smarter sourcing, supplier partnerships, and streamlined processes that deliver innovation, savings, and risk reduction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and execute category strategy for CROs and scientific R&D services

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and suppliers worldwide

  • Lead and inspire a geographically dispersed team

  • Identify opportunities through spend analysis and market insights

  • Drive cross‑functional sourcing projects and negotiations

  • Oversee supplier performance, contracts, and pricing updates

  • Ensure compliance and manage third‑party risk

Skills & Experience

  • Proven success in outsourcing within scientific R&D (CROs, consumables, chemicals, tech)

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem‑solving skills

  • Experienced leader of international, cross‑functional teams

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills

  • Advanced analytical skills and data fluency

  • Degree in a science field (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or similar) plus leadership experience in R&D, CROs, or procurement

  • Fluent English; French/German a plus

  • Occasional international travel required
