Maintenance Planner

One of America's leading food manufacturers is seeking a Maintenance Planner to support operations at its manufacturing facility near Richland, WA. This role is responsible for developing and managing maintenance schedules, coordinating resources, ensuring work order accuracy, and providing technical guidance to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance preventive maintenance through data-driven planning and job library development.

The Maintenance Planner will have the following responsibilities:

  • Plan & Schedule Maintenance: Use Infor M3 and other tools to develop and manage maintenance schedules. Prioritize and assign work orders (WOs) and preventive maintenance (PMs), coordinating with operations to minimize downtime.
  • Prepare & Coordinate Resources: Ensure all required parts, tools, and documentation are available before scheduling work. Oversee the parts cage and adjust plans based on material availability.
  • Ensure Work Order Accuracy: Review WOs for clarity, scope, and feasibility. Collaborate with stakeholders to confirm details and align expectations.
  • Track Compliance & Performance: Schedule regulatory tasks (e.g., calibrations, safety checks) and maintain KPIs to monitor planning effectiveness and plant performance.
  • Maintain Systems & Documentation: Keep CMMS records current, manage the job library, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

The Maintenance Planner will have the following skillset:

  • Food Manufacturing & Safety Expertise: Knowledge of food production principles, including GMPs, HACCP, FDA/OSHA regulations, and sanitation practices.
  • Maintenance & Reliability Skills: Familiarity with maintenance best practices, predictive tools (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis), and CMMS platforms.
  • Technical & Engineering Knowledge: Understanding of electrical systems, PLCs, fabrication, welding, and processing equipment; ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Planning & Resource Management: Experience in maintenance planning, job estimation, resource leveling, and developing work instructions and repair kits.
  • Communication & Team Collaboration: Strong communicator with the ability to work across teams, align maintenance with production schedules, and write clear instructions.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Skilled in analyzing issues, evaluating alternatives, and anticipating outcomes to support operational improvements.
  • Experience & Certifications: 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience
