Maintenance Superintendent

Job Description:
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading the maintenance function within a pulp and paper manufacturing facility, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient operations. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs, manages maintenance personnel, and collaborates with operations, engineering, and EHS teams to drive continuous improvement and asset performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and contractor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures.
  • Support capital projects and equipment upgrades.
  • Train and mentor maintenance staff to build technical capabilities and promote a safety-first culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of maintenance experience in pulp and paper or heavy industrial manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of reliability engineering, CMMS systems, and maintenance best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards in industrial environments.
