We are currently partnering with an international logistics provider in the Amsterdam area to hire an experienced Operations Manager - Air Import & Export to join their growing air freight team.
This role is ideal for a hands-on air freight professional with strong operational expertise across both imports and exports, combined with supervisory or team leadership experience. You will act as the right-hand person to the Operations Manager while overseeing a small operations team and supporting the smooth running of daily air freight activities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day air import and export operations from booking through to final delivery
- Supervise and support a small operations team across import and export activities
- Coordinate with airlines, customs brokers, transport providers, warehouses, and overseas offices
- Manage operational escalations and proactively resolve shipment issues and delays
- Ensure service levels, KPIs, and customer expectations are consistently achieved
- Support workflow planning, operational efficiency, and process improvement initiatives
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders
- Assist with training, coaching, and general team support where required
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience within air freight forwarding or air import/export operations
- Strong hands-on experience across both air imports and air exports
- Previous team leadership, supervisory, or senior operations experience within logistics
- Strong knowledge of international air freight procedures and customs processes
- Experience working within fast-paced freight forwarding environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Experience with CargoWise or similar TMS systems is advantageous
- Fluent English required; Dutch is highly preferred
