Production Planning Manager
A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Production Planning Manager to oversee execution of complex, high-priority production programs. This role ensures products are delivered on time, in full, and to required quality standards. Acting as the key link between planning and operations, this individual will drive performance across production, materials, quality, and testing functions to maintain schedule adherence and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Production Execution & Schedule Management
- Manage and maintain production schedules for assigned product lines.
- Track work-in-progress and identify risks to delivery timelines, implementing recovery plans as needed.
- Coordinate with operations teams to align labor, equipment, and testing resources.
- Monitor production performance and ensure alignment with delivery commitments.
- Identify bottlenecks and resolve issues through direct action or escalation.
Materials & Readiness Coordination
- Ensure all materials and components are available prior to production start.
- Partner with materials and planning teams to resolve shortages or discrepancies.
- Validate that current product configurations align with released specifications.
- Coordinate with engineering teams on required changes or clarifications.
- Support efficient material flow and staging to optimize production.
Operational Improvement & Problem Solving
- Collect and analyze production data related to cycle times, material issues, and rework.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, sequencing, and workflow efficiency.
- Support new product introductions by validating readiness and providing feedback.
- Participate in cross-functional discussions to improve execution practices.
Leadership & Communication
- Provide regular updates to leadership on delivery status, risks, and key actions.
- Foster strong collaboration across operations, planning, and engineering teams.
- Maintain ownership of open issues through resolution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for program delivery visibility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 4-6 years of experience in operations, supply chain, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams within production or program environments.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Background:
- Experience in complex or multi-site manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Knowledge of planning or forecasting processes.
- Project management experience or formal training.
Travel: Up to 20% as needed.
