Quality Manager
A leading specialty chemicals manufacturer is hiring a Quality Manager to lead site-wide quality initiatives, oversee the Quality Management System (QMS), and drive continuous improvement across products and processes. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for ISO 9001 compliance, customer quality issue resolution, root cause investigations, and managing quality personnel while partnering closely with operations, technology, and commercial teams. The responsibilities of the Quality Manager will include:
- Serve as a key member of the site leadership team, driving quality strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee intermediate and finished product testing to ensure product quality and compliance.
- Lead and develop analytical and laboratory teams, fostering a high-performance quality culture.
- Strengthen and continuously improve the Quality Management System while supporting ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
- Manage internal audits and coordinate with corporate and external auditors.
- Ensure the effectiveness and integrity of site-wide quality systems and processes.
- Drive quality performance improvements with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions related to quality issues and customer complaints.
- Partner cross-functionally to implement product and process improvements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related matters across the organization.
- Utilize continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies to resolve complex quality challenges.
- Coach, mentor, and develop quality team members through training and performance management.
- Support regional and global quality initiatives, best practices, and strategic objectives.
- Provide quality leadership and technical support across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Implement tools and systems that improve process capability and reduce product variation.
The ideal Quality Manager will have the following skillset:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of quality experience within chemical manufacturing environments.
- Experience managing and improving ISO 9001-certified Quality Management Systems.
- Strong expertise in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across Operations, R&D, Engineering, and Safety.
- Strategic problem-solver capable of prioritizing competing business and quality objectives.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with experience influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications that will set you apart:
- Experience working within regulated manufacturing environments, including cGMP, FDA, or similar quality standards.
- Proven success leading quality initiatives in unionized manufacturing environments.
- Strong auditing background; ASQ or Exemplar Global Internal Auditor certification preferred.
- Expertise in root cause analysis (RCA), corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with analytical testing equipment such as GC, GPC, TGA, and XRF.
- ASQ CMQ/OE certification and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
- Advanced technical education in Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related discipline.
