Overview

A leading developer of advanced semiconductor processing equipment is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and integration of sophisticated automation systems. This role is ideal for a multidisciplinary engineer with expertise in automation, robotics, and control systems, especially within a fast-paced R&D environment.

The engineer will be instrumental in creating custom control solutions for proprietary MOCVD and RTA systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance tools for semiconductor research and production.


Key Responsibilities

System Architecture & Design

  • Design scalable and reliable control system architectures for new and existing semiconductor equipment.
  • Specify hardware/software components including PLCs, HMIs, industrial PCs, and motion control systems.
  • Create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using CAD tools (AutoCAD, EPLAN).
  • Develop documentation such as Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), and validation protocols.

Software Development & Integration

  • Develop control software using C# and PLC programming languages (Structured Text, Ladder Logic).
  • Implement advanced algorithms for process control, data acquisition, and diagnostics.
  • Integrate industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, PROFINET, OPC UA) for robust device connectivity.

Project Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead automation projects, managing timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, process, and materials engineers to define system requirements and resolve technical challenges.
  • Provide expert support during customer consultations and field service operations.
  • Analyze system performance data to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation, Controls, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in automation controls and software development.
  • Proficiency in Visual Studio and C# with object-oriented design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
  • Skilled in wiring low-voltage (up to 48VDC) and high-voltage (up to 480VAC) systems.
  • Familiarity with serial protocols (RS232, RS485, RS422), DeviceNet, EtherCAT, Modbus.
  • Experience with Beckhoff embedded PC/PLC hardware.
  • Strong ability to learn and adapt to new technologies through research and technical resources.
