Senior Project Engineer
A leading global manufacturer in the confectionery and consumer goods space is seeking a passionate and driven Senior Project Engineer to join its dynamic team in Loves Park, IL. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact capital projects, drive operational excellence, and contribute to continuous innovation across manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of capital projects, including documentation, layouts, budgeting, and scheduling.
 - Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, production, and maintenance teams to deliver operational and financial analyses for project justification.
 - Manage vendor relationships, equipment procurement, installation, and startup activities.
 - Serve as the engineering representative on cross-departmental project delivery teams.
 - Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives across plant procedures and manufacturing methods.
 - Analyze plant operations to reduce downtime, energy consumption, and safety risks.
 - Maintain technical layouts using ACAD and 3D engineering tools.
 - Support training programs and ensure compliance with safety and food safety standards.
 - Conduct technical evaluations and select equipment suppliers to meet process and packaging needs.
 - Apply methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, SMED, and Preventative Maintenance to optimize performance.
 
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (MBA preferred).
 - 4-6 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
 - 3-5 years of hands-on experience in engineering project management.
 - Proficiency in CAD, technical system analysis, process improvement, and manufacturing methods.
 - Familiarity with OSHA, FDA regulations, and permitting requirements.
 - Expertise in food processing equipment and plant engineering systems (e.g., HVAC, steam, compressed air, wastewater treatment).
 - Experience with packaging equipment, robotics, and automation.
 - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a focus on coaching and problem-solving.
 - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
