Sr. Product Development Engineer
DSJ Global is currently partnered with a leading precision manufacturing organization who is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to join their Southeast U.S. facility. This role focuses on the design, development, and launch of innovative, performance-driven product lines from concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Lead full lifecycle product development, from concept design through validation and production release.
- Manage multiple engineering projects, including timelines, budgets, and technical deliverables.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and track performance against milestones.
- Create detailed product specifications by collaborating with cross-functional teams and incorporating customer and market requirements.
- Design new products and modify existing designs using 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred).
- Generate technical documentation including drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and test plans.
- Build and evaluate prototypes to ensure proper form, fit, and function.
- Conduct testing and validation activities, including dynamic and performance testing.
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure manufacturability and product integrity.
- Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout development.
- Evaluate and integrate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing methods.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction efforts.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication and lead technical review meetings.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in product development within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and engineering design principles.
- Extensive experience applying GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) in product design.
- Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects and deliver on schedule and within budget.
- Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, injection molding, forging, and additive manufacturing.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
- Experience with FEA or simulation tools is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
