Business Development Manager Road
DSJ Global is partnering with a well‑established international logistics group with a long history in fashion logistics and road, air, and sea transport, currently experiencing strong growth across its European network. To support the expansion of its operations in Italy, we are seeking a Business Development Manager for the organisation's branch in the Bologna region. This role will take ownership of driving commercial growth for their ROAD transport activities.
Role Overview
In this position, you will be responsible for proactively developing new business, managing customer relationships, and supporting the commercial strategy for international transport services. You will lead the full sales cycle - from prospecting to closing - and contribute directly to strengthening the company's footprint across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive active sales of international transport services from Italy to markets across Europe, including the UK, North Africa, and Turkey.
* Promote the full suite of logistics services offered by the group, with a strong focus on road transport solutions.
* Generate new business through prospecting, cold calling, networking, and ongoing customer relationship management.
* Manage your own agenda, balancing customer visits with administrative responsibilities.
* Collaborate with internal business units, identifying cross‑selling opportunities and key market trends.
* Operate autonomously and report directly to senior management.
* This role is based Bologna, Italy.
Profile Requirements
* Prior experience in the transport sector, specifically within the European road transport market.
* Strong understanding of key market players, pricing structures, and tariff frameworks.
* Commercially driven, customer‑focused, results‑oriented, and comfortable with both hunting and farming.
* Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build and leverage networks.
* Fluent in Italian and English; French is considered a plus.
* Strong command of MS Office; experience with Navision is advantageous.
* Highly accurate, quality‑focused, flexible, and committed to delivering premium service.
