A firearm manufacturer is looking to hire a Buyer based out of their site in West Hartford, CT.
Role: Buyer
Location: West Hartford, CT
Work Model: Fully On-Site 5 days per week
Compensation: $70,000 to $80,000 base plus bonus
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience within aerospace, automotive, defense, or other highly regulated industries preferred.
- Background sourcing complex machined components and metal-based products.
- Ability to read engineering drawings/blueprints and understand manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of cost analysis, ROI, and procurement best practices.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Exposure to value analysis, cost reduction initiatives, and government contracting is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Source materials, products, and services while balancing cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Manage RFQs, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and purchase orders.
- Expedite deliveries and resolve supply chain issues to support production needs.
- Monitor market trends, lead times, and cost drivers.
- Coordinate returns and replacement of nonconforming materials.
- Maintain and expand supplier relationships and approved vendor networks.
- Participate in supplier audits and evaluations.
- Support continuous improvement, cost savings, and value engineering initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
