This opportunity is with a fast‑growing North American bakery manufacturer known for producing a diverse portfolio of products, including cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, icings, and more. Their customer base includes major retailers, foodservice organizations, and distributors across the U.S. and Canada.
The organization has experienced significant expansion over the past decade, completing multiple acquisitions-including two in just the last 18 months. They operate a large network of manufacturing facilities across the U.S. and Canada, supported by corporate offices located in the Midwest and Southeast regions.
The company has invested heavily in modernization and automation, including robotics in production, and is entering a more advanced, strategic phase of commodity sourcing under new equity partners. This includes a heightened focus on hedging, forecasting, risk mitigation, and long‑term sourcing maturity.
Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and align sourcing strategies for egg and dairy commodities that support overall business objectives
- Research, negotiate, and secure optimal pricing, quality, and service for assigned commodity-based raw materials
- Create and manage commodity risk‑mitigation strategies
- Provide expert knowledge and leadership for designated commodity categories, including short- and long-term strategy development
- Lead contract development, execution, and supplier negotiations; coach others on negotiation best practices
- Build and deliver budgeted plans for assigned commodity categories
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and identify new technologies or markets aligned with business needs
- Drive cost‑saving initiatives such as volume discounts, improved terms, or lead-time optimization
- Establish and enhance standard operating procedures for purchasing
- Monitor supplier compliance with contracts and agreements
- Support supply chain analyses, cross-functional initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure adherence to food safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Purchasing, Materials Management, or 7+ years of equivalent experience
- 4+ years in sourcing, supply chain, or operational leadership for commodity‑based raw materials; experience with sugar/sweeteners preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Great Plains, SAP)
- Familiarity with MRP, MPS, and WMS modules
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable with rapid change and problem‑solving
- Self-driven, results-oriented, and able to work independently
Team & Reporting Structure
- This role sits onsite in an office adjacent to the production facility in Tucker, Georgia, working alongside other analysts and sourcing managers
- Reports to a Senior Director of Sourcing
- The department includes several category managers responsible for sugar, flour, starches, sweeteners, eggs, dairy, cocoa, chocolate, and more
- Flat organizational structure-each sourcing manager is considered the subject matter expert for their category
