Director of Aerospace Engineering, Northeast
Position Summary:
The Director of Aerospace Engineering will lead the strategic and technical direction of aerospace engineering initiatives across the Northeast region. This executive role is responsible for overseeing the design, development, testing, and certification of aerospace systems and components, ensuring alignment with company goals, regulatory standards, and customer expectations.
- Develop and execute the regional aerospace engineering strategy in alignment with corporate objectives
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams, fostering innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence
- Represent the company in industry forums, technical committees, and customer engagements
- Oversee the full life cycle of aerospace engineering projects, from concept through production
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones, budgets, and quality standards
- Collaborate with program management, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams
- Guide the development of advanced aerospace technologies including propulsion, avionics, materials, and systems integration
- Ensure compliance with FAA, DoD, and other relevant regulatory bodies
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools
- Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent
- Promote a culture of technical rigor, safety, and professional growth
- Up to 40% travel to other facilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related engineering field (Master's or PhD preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in the aerospace industry
- Professional Engineer (PE) License and Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
- Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt / Black Belt)
- AS9100 Lead Auditor Certification
- Proven track record of managing complex aerospace programs and leading multidisciplinary teams
- Deep understanding of aerospace systems, certification processes, and industry standards
- Strong communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with both commercial and defense aerospace programs
- Familiarity with digital engineering, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and advanced manufacturing
- Prior leadership in a regional or multi-site engineering organization
