Director of Direct Procurement

The Director of Global Procurement will lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for direct materials, overseeing an annual spend of approximately $250 million. This role is responsible for delivering financial outcomes, cultivating procurement talent, and driving operational excellence through sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, pricing optimization, and supplier engagement. The Director will also manage a team of buyers handling day-to-day procurement activities, including purchase order execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership

  • Design and implement sourcing strategies across key categories such as hardware and printed materials.
  • Track market dynamics and component pricing to proactively manage risk and maintain competitive advantage.

Supplier Management & Performance Optimization

  • Develop and sustain strong global supplier relationships to foster innovation, ensure performance, and mitigate risk.
  • Conduct supplier reviews, utilize performance scorecards, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Cost Efficiency & Compliance

  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives while upholding standards for quality, delivery, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead value engineering efforts and ensure alignment with procurement policies and industry benchmarks.

Contract Strategy & Risk Management

  • Lead complex contract negotiations to secure favorable terms and reduce exposure to legal and operational risks.
  • Navigate global supply chain challenges including geopolitical shifts, tariffs, and market volatility.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Inspire and guide a high-performing procurement team.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Quality, Accounting, Engineering, Operations, and Logistics to support business growth and contractual obligations.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee procurement operations including RFPs, RFQs, contract lifecycle management, and PO processing.
  • Champion process improvements through ERP systems and e-sourcing platforms, ensuring ISO 9001 compliance.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field

Experience

  • Required: Minimum 8 years of relevant procurement experience
  • Preferred: 12+ years in strategic sourcing and supplier management

Skills & Expertise

  • In-depth knowledge of global procurement trends and competitive sourcing strategies
  • Strong international negotiation skills and contract management experience
  • Proven ability to lead supplier performance initiatives and resolve complex challenges
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Comfortable engaging with executive leadership and managing high-value contracts
