Director of Procurement - Manufacturing

A global leader in the Telecommunications space is looking for a distinguished procurement professional. This role provides the opportunity to lead global procurement strategy within a complex manufacturing environment. The Director will oversee sourcing across external manufacturing and repair partners, driving cost optimization, supply continuity, and operational performance.

The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional leadership and a strong balance of strategic direction and execution to support long-term business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Own global sourcing strategy across EMS, ODM, and repair partners
  • Lead complex contract negotiations (MSAs, SOWs, SLAs) to optimize cost and capacity
  • Drive savings through value engineering and should-cost modeling
  • Manage executive supplier relationships and lead QBRs
  • Partner with Engineering and Product teams on new product launches
  • Strengthen global repair operations and aftermarket performance
  • Monitor tariffs, geopolitical risks, and supply chain disruptions
  • Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team

Requirements

  • 10+ years in procurement/supply chain, including 5+ years in leadership
  • Experience managing EMS/ODM partners in electronics, telecom, aerospace, or automotive
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and global sourcing
  • Proven success negotiating complex, high-value contracts
  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree required

Additional Details

  • Location: Greater Chicago area (hybrid model with expected onsite presence three days per week)
  • Travel: Approximately 25-50% global travel depending on business needs
  • Scope: Global responsibility across external manufacturing partners, supplier strategy, and repair operations
  • Team: Leadership role with responsibility for building, mentoring, and scaling a procurement organization
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced, highly cross-functional environment requiring both strategic leadership and hands-on execution
  • Exposure: Regular interaction with executive leadership, key suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Compensation: Competitive base salary with performance-based bonus and comprehensive benefits package
