Director of Special Projects
The Director of Special Projects will lead the modernization and growth of warehousing and distribution operations. This role requires a transformative, strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach to operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large teams across multiple locations, driving process improvements, and leveraging data to enhance profitability.
Key Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading teams of 200+ in logistics, manufacturing, construction, or related industries.
- Proficiency in developing and utilizing operational metrics and dashboards focused on productivity and efficiency.
- Experience with P&L responsibilities and the development of pricing or costing models.
- Proven ability to create and execute both short-term operational plans and long-term strategic initiatives.
- Certifications in Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies are preferred.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms.
- Experience with Labor Management Systems
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Operational Leadership
- Design and implement a comprehensive warehousing and distribution strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Drive the development of integrated warehousing and transportation solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Identify and apply best practices to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and boost productivity.
- Lead initiatives to optimize inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping/receiving processes.
- Establish and monitor operational metrics to enhance performance and profitability.
- Support talent acquisition and retention strategies for distribution staff.
- Champion technological advancements and data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and maintain high safety standards.
Business Development
- Explore new revenue opportunities through existing clients, emerging markets, and expanded service offerings.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key customers and promote a culture of exceptional service.
- Collaborate with affiliated business units to deliver comprehensive supply chain solutions.
Strategic Leadership
- Drive the achievement of strategic objectives and financial performance targets.
- Participate in senior leadership discussions, goal setting, and forecasting processes.
- Contribute to the organization's implementation of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
