We are supporting a growing firm in the renewable energy space on their search for a Director of Supply Chain to lead strategy and execution for the company's renewable energy portfolio and thermal development projects. This is a high-impact, board-facing leadership role that directly influences project bankability, returns, and construction timelines. You will drive world-class procurement practices to secure competitive advantages in a constrained global supply environment. The role also requires close collaboration with internal and external counsel for contract negotiations and staying current on tariffs, tax credit regulations, and foreign entity compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership

    • Develop and implement a 3-5-year global procurement roadmap aligned with the company's development pipeline and $1-2B annual capex.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies for cost, financing, and technical risk.
    • Build and maintain a preferred supplier network (Tier 1 & Tier 2) across Asia, Europe, and domestic manufacturing hubs.
    • Provide executive-level reporting on market conditions, tariffs, FEOC/PFE compliance, and tax credit eligibility.
  • Contracting & Negotiation

    • Lead negotiations for major equipment and services, including:
      • BESS (cells, PCS, EMS), transformers, HV substations
      • Solar modules, inverters, trackers
      • EPC, BoP, O&M, LTSA
      • Combustion turbines, reciprocating engines
      • Emerging technologies (e.g., fuel cells)
    • Secure strategic agreements and manage hedging/price-lock strategies in volatile commodity markets.
    • Maximize value while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Risk Management

    • Oversee supply-chain due diligence, geopolitical risk, forced-labor compliance (e.g., UFLPA, EU CBAM), currency hedging, and contingency planning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with Project Finance, Development, Engineering, and Legal teams to achieve contracting milestones.
    • Represent the company at industry organizations (e.g., RE+, SEIA).

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in strategic procurement, including 3+ years in renewable energy (solar, wind, storage).
  • Proven experience negotiating $100M+ annual spend and multi-year agreements with Tier 1 manufacturers globally.
  • Deep knowledge of global supply-chain dynamics, Incoterms, LCs, performance bonds, and liquidated damages.
  • Strong compliance focus: anti-bribery, sanctions, and forced-labor regulations.
  • Experience securing "domestic content" incentives under IRA, CFDs, or similar programs.
  • Financial acumen in capex modeling, LCOE sensitivity, and NPV/IRR impacts.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or engineering degree (electrical/mechanical) preferred.
  • Professional certifications (CPSM, MCIPS, CPP) are a plus.
