Position Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager plays a critical leadership role in shaping a safe, compliant, and sustainability‑focused work environment. This position oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of workplace safety, environmental, and health programs. The role includes responsibility for regulatory compliance, risk reduction, incident prevention, industrial hygiene, and training initiatives. The EHS Manager also supports food safety and quality programs, including the Safe Quality Food (SQF) system.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Compliance
- Lead and manage all EHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee the company's internal EHS management system, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop safety strategies, annual budgets, and employee training plans to drive high performance.
Safety Culture & Risk Management
- Champion behavior‑based safety practices and lead crisis management and sustainability initiatives.
- Support department leaders in enforcing safety policies, hazard control methods, and safe work practices.
- Conduct and assist in accident investigations, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
Industrial Hygiene & Technical Oversight
- Direct industrial hygiene programs, including assessments, monitoring, and implementation of new technologies or best practices.
- Provide guidance to safety committees and maintain communication with regulatory agencies when needed.
Incident Management & Recordkeeping
- Manage incident reporting processes, workers' compensation activities, corrective actions, and OSHA recordkeeping.
- Support internal and external audits to ensure ongoing compliance with EHS standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- A master's degree and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is preferred.
Experience
- At least 5 years of EHS management experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting multiple production sites is beneficial.
- Strong background in:
- Safety program development
- Employee training design and delivery
- Behavioral safety and safety culture enhancement
- Ergonomics and industrial hygiene practices
- Workers' compensation and OSHA compliance
