Overview
A large, well‑established heavy manufacturing operation is seeking an Engineering Superintendent to lead engineering and reliability efforts for a hot mill environment. This is a highly visible leadership role with responsibility for safety, equipment reliability, team performance, and continuous improvement in a 24/7 industrial operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineering professionals supporting hot mill operations
- Oversee planned and unplanned engineering and maintenance activities, ensuring equipment health and reliability
- Drive reliability excellence, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Champion EHS programs and promote a strong safety and Human Performance culture
- Track and manage KPIs related to equipment performance, maintenance effectiveness, and labor utilization
- Own capital projects from planning through execution, including budgeting and cost controls
- Partner with operations, maintenance, procurement, and leadership to improve uptime, cost, and performance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and internal engineering guidelines
- Participate in strategic planning, workforce development, and long‑term operational improvements
- Serve in an on‑call capacity to support critical operations as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (metals, aluminum, steel, or similar)
- At least 2 years of direct people management or supervisory experience
- Strong background in reliability, maintenance, and industrial engineering operations
- Demonstrated safety leadership in industrial environments
Preferred:
- Experience in aluminum processing or hot rolling operations
- Background in union manufacturing environments
- Proven success leading reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
- Solid mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $120,000 - $140,000
- Relocation assistance available
