Field Application Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning & System Integration
- Develop and execute commissioning plans for energy storage systems and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Carry out site acceptance testing, functional verification, and equipment validation prior to system handover.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues during commissioning to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Aftersales Support & Field Services
- Provide remote and on‑site technical support for system maintenance, upgrades, fault diagnosis, and field repairs.
- Manage warranty-related activities, including technical evaluation, documentation, and coordination with internal engineering and quality teams.
- Act as the primary technical contact for customer inquiries, issue resolution, and post‑installation service needs.
- Support field interventions, including mandatory travel for service visits across Japan and occasionally other APAC markets.
Documentation, Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare thorough service reports, test records, incident logs, and warranty documents after each field activity.
- Maintain up‑to‑date records of spare parts, service inventory, and field service expenses.
- Ensure all field operations follow internal procedures, safety guidelines, and local regulatory requirements.
Training & Technical Enablement
- Provide technical training to customers, installers, EPC partners, and service providers to ensure proper operation and maintenance of ESS solutions.
- Support the creation of training materials, troubleshooting guides, and application notes.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate field insights into design improvements and feature enhancements.
Customer & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Communicate clearly with customers to manage expectations and deliver exceptional technical service.
- Support pre‑sales or tendering processes by offering technical input on system configurations and service scopes.
- Work closely with R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Product teams to address complex system issues and contribute to ongoing product refinement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in commissioning, field service, maintenance, or technical support roles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the ability to interpret electrical diagrams, communication protocols, and system data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel regularly for site inspections, service calls, and commissioning work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on utility-scale, commercial/industrial, or residential ESS projects.
- Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS), PCS/inverters, EMS platforms, and electrical balance‑of‑plant equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and electrical safety/compliance requirements.
- Experience with remote monitoring platforms, data analytics tools, or SCADA/EMS systems.
