Global Trade Compliance Leader
A global chemicals manufacturing organization is seeking a Global Trade Compliance Leader to build and lead a best-in-class customs and trade compliance function across multiple regions and business units.
This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role with visibility across global operations, supply chain, and executive leadership.

About the Role
This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and leading a globally standardized customs compliance program across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific.
You'll partner closely with supply chain, legal, IT, and operations teams to ensure compliance while driving efficiency, visibility, and cost optimization across global trade activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement global customs compliance policies and procedures
- Standardize systems, processes, and data across regions
- Oversee tariff classification (HTS), country of origin (COO), and FTA eligibility
- Lead denied party screening and ensure regulatory adherence across global operations
- Maintain classification accuracy leveraging technical product data
- Partner with internal stakeholders (manufacturing, logistics, IT) to ensure compliance alignment
- Manage external customs brokers and third-party logistics providers
- Deliver training programs and promote compliance awareness across regions
- Monitor trade activity to identify risk, improvement areas, and cost savings
- Report on compliance metrics and program effectiveness
Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of customs/trade compliance experience in a global manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong expertise in HTS classification, origin rules, and trade agreements
- Experience building or scaling global compliance programs
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Licensed Customs Broker strongly preferred
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a complex global organization
