The Head of Project Logistics role is responsible for overseeing large-scale industrial logistics projects across Canada, with a focus on strategic business development, operational execution, and customer engagement. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with deep expertise in cargo logistics, particularly in heavy and out-of-gauge equipment, and will have a proven track record of managing multi-million to billion-dollar projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Strategy & Execution
- Lead the implementation of logistics processes for major industrial projects, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and operational capabilities.
- Oversee the setup and performance of logistics hubs, ensuring consistency in processes and KPIs across locations.
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to ensure project milestones are met and resources are optimized.
Financial Oversight
- Develop and maintain financial reports for each hub, including revenue by customer and segment, cost monitoring, and overall profitability.
- Support global account managers in maximizing customer profitability through strategic insights and pricing expertise.
Customer Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new customer onboarding, guiding the implementation process and ensuring seamless integration.
- Drive customer satisfaction through proactive communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning.
Leadership & Development
- Provide leadership for existing industrial project hubs and play a key role in developing future locations.
- Manage a team of five, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on global performance metrics for all industrial project operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial project logistics, with a strong background in cargo transportation and strategic project execution.
- Deep knowledge of transportation for heavy and out-of-gauge equipment, including international logistics.
- Proven ability to lead complex, long-term projects (3-4 years in duration) with budgets in the millions or billions.
- Strong understanding of pricing strategies and customer-driven solutions.
- Familiarity with Canadian logistics regulations and market dynamics is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 30% of the time.
