Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Inventory Purchasing Manager to oversee and optimize their inventory procurement processes. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and supplies necessary for our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, and experience in vendor negotiation and inventory control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with production schedules and inventory targets.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
- Collaborate with production, warehouse, and finance teams to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage and resolve issues related to delivery delays, quality discrepancies, or inventory shortages.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Utilize ERP systems to manage procurement and inventory data effectively.
- Prepare regular reports on inventory status, purchasing metrics, and supplier performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in inventory management and purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain procedures and inventory control principles.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., APICS, CPM, CPSM).
- Experience with lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) inventory systems.
- Familiarity with international sourcing and logistics.
Working Conditions:
- Office and manufacturing floor environment.
- Occasional travel to supplier sites or industry events may be required.
