Overview:
A leading manufacturer in the sustainable materials / paper manufacturing sector is seeking a Maintenance Operations Leader to oversee the upkeep and reliability of a production facility. This role involves managing a team of skilled tradespeople, ensuring equipment functionality, and aligning maintenance strategies with broader operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily maintenance activities across the facility.
- Lead planning and execution of maintenance tasks to meet operational efficiency targets.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and motivate staff to achieve performance goals.
- Ensure all machinery and systems are safe, compliant, and well-maintained.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on equipment upgrades and installations.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures and performance metrics.
- Set departmental goals that align with site-wide objectives.
- Mentor and develop team members, including succession planning.
- Conduct timely performance evaluations in line with company standards.
- Coordinate planned shutdowns, ensuring safety and schedule adherence.
- Respond to unplanned maintenance needs and drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Lead reliability initiatives and support predictive/preventive maintenance programs.
- Track and report on key maintenance metrics.
- Manage departmental budgets and contribute to annual planning.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and vendor partnerships.
- Monitor work quality and compliance through inspections and audits.
- Utilize enterprise systems and software tools for planning and reporting.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in industrial maintenance.
- At least five years of experience in a maintenance leadership role, preferably in heavy manufacturing.
- Proficiency with maintenance management systems and standard office software.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement and managing change.
- In-depth knowledge of safety standards and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Experience managing skilled trades such as electricians, mechanics, and pipefitters.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and implement proactive maintenance strategies.
- Skilled in preparing detailed reports and analyzing operational data.
