Manufacturing Engineer
A reputable aerospace company is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in North New Jersey. This role is critical in designing and optimizing production methods, integrating equipment and tooling, and ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing engineering background, hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement production methods and cell layouts, including routers and build books for new production and overhaul/repair operations.
- Coordinate acquisition and integration of equipment and tooling to support manufacturing needs.
- Develop and maintain production standards to ensure consistency and quality.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, including test failures, to support continuous operations.
- Review engineering drawings for manufacturability and initiate engineering change orders as needed.
- Participate in acceptance testing to validate product performance and test procedure accuracy.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in design and manufacturing processes.
- Create manufacturing bills of material (MBOMs) based on engineering BOMs.
- Conduct or witness developmental, qualification, and performance testing on new products (e.g., vibration, thermal, environmental, and duty cycle tests).
- Develop test plans and author test reports.
- Perform internal audits across various departments to ensure compliance and quality.
- Support additional tasks and projects as required.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering.
- 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Creo or equivalent).
- Understanding of GD&T drawing standards.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Manual machinery and electromechanical assembly experience.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with technicians, machinists, suppliers, and customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of machining and material properties related to component part manufacturing.
- Understanding of electronics and electric circuits.
- Experience with electric motors, hydraulic motors, servo valves, and hydraulic test equipment.
- Background in aircraft and/or military equipment.
- Familiarity with FAA/EASA certifications (a plus).
- Understanding of aerospace standards and requirements.
- Experience with AS9100 Quality Management Systems and auditing.
