OPEX Manager
A paper mill client is hiring for an Operational Excellence (OPEX) Manager to lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives across our paper mill operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in paper and pulp manufacturing, deep expertise in CI methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, etc.), and a passion for driving operational efficiency, safety, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate Continuous Improvement (CI) projects to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality across the mill.
- Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM strategies tailored to paper and pulp processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify performance gaps and execute improvement plans.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
- Train and mentor employees on CI tools and methodologies.
- Drive a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation throughout the organization.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to OPEX initiatives.
- Support capital projects and process optimization efforts.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in paper and pulp manufacturing.
- Proven track record in Operational Excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar CI frameworks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- CI certifications (Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, TPM, etc.) are highly desirable.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with tools such as Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, and DMAIC.
- Familiarity with DCS/PLC systems, process control, and quality systems in paper mills.
- Ability to influence and drive change in a unionized or complex manufacturing environment.
