Packaging Application Engineer (M/F/D(

As an Application Engineer, you will act as the technical interface between customers, internal technical teams and external partners, supporting the processing and application of polymer-based medical/pharma packaging materials across customer production environments.

The role involves a mix of on-site customer support, trials, technical consulting and cross-functional collaboration, with a strong practical and hands-on focus.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical support, application consulting and troubleshooting for customers in medical and pharmaceutical packaging
  • Support customers directly on site, optimising processing conditions and resolving technical issues in production
  • Actively support material trials, customer tests and application projects from feasibility through implementation
  • Identify and develop new application areas for polymer-based packaging materials
  • Conduct processing and material trials at customer sites and at packaging machine manufacturers
  • Ensure processability, quality and robustness of packaging solutions under real production conditions
  • Deliver technical training to customers, operators and internal colleagues, with a focus on processing and application
  • Work closely with R&D, Quality, Production and Sales teams to deliver effective customer solutions

Your background

  • Technical qualification such as:
    • Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or
    • Technical training with relevant industry experience
      (a formal engineering degree is not mandatory)
  • Practical experience in medical or pharmaceutical packaging
  • Solid understanding of polymer-based packaging materials, such as:
    • Polyolefins (PE, PP)
    • PET / multilayer films
    • Extruded or calendered materials
  • Experience in application engineering, process engineering, technical service or customer-facing technical roles
  • Confident working in production and customer environments
  • Fluent German and English (international customer base)
  • Strong communicator with a proactive, customer-oriented mindset
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites (approx. 30% on average)
