Quality Control Chemist

Our client is a specialty chemical manufacturing company that is searching for a QC Chemist. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of analytical testing for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a passion for quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT, ISO, SQF, etc.).
  • Promote and support a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture.
  • Manage and maintain laboratory instruments and testing reagents.
  • Develop, validate, and improve analytical methods and inspection procedures.
  • Support manufacturing, technical service, and customer teams with analytical expertise.
  • Maintain accurate QC lab records, including calibration logs and documentation.
  • Assist with new product development and pilot plant activities.
  • Identify and procure critical lab equipment, spare parts, and supplies.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab instruments (e.g., GC, LC, ICP, FTIR, TOC, NIR, AA, viscosity meters, Karl Fischer titrators).
  • Train and mentor QC technicians to ensure adherence to best lab practices.
  • Conduct statistical quality control analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, SQF, and FDA standards and drive quality system enhancements.
  • Participate in HR and personnel development initiatives within the lab team..

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a chemicals manufacturing or industrial lab setting.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and analytical techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and support cross-functional teams.
