The Responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Supervisor will include:
- Lead regulatory, SQF, and company food safety compliance, supporting HACCP and Food Safety Plan execution while driving cGMP excellence across the facility.
- Conduct routine plant and sanitation inspections, partnering cross‑functionally to strengthen food safety programs and close compliance gaps.
- Review and audit daily quality documentation, ensuring accuracy, adherence to standards, and strong operator/technician training.
- Analyze quality data to identify trends, manage non‑conformances, and implement proactive corrective and preventive actions to reduce losses.
- Own document control by creating and maintaining SOPs/SSOPs, ensuring proper approvals, storage, and training within the Intelex system.
- Provide leadership and coaching to QA and Microbiology staff, setting clear expectations and holding teams accountable to quality KPIs.
- Serve as a technical resource in applied statistics, quality systems, sanitation, regulatory compliance, and complaint reduction initiatives.
- Support regulatory, customer, and third‑party audits by leading facility tours, presenting quality programs, and demonstrating documentation accuracy.
- Oversee lab operations including supply inventory, calibrations, SDS management, and vendor coordination for efficient material sourcing.
- Manage formulas, batch sheets, product release documentation, and the internal microbiology program to ensure accuracy, traceability, and robust testing practices.
The Ideal Quality Assurance Supervisor will have the following skillset:
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1-3 years of QA systems experience in food manufacturing
- HACCP, SQF, PCQI, and Food Defense training highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of food processing, manufacturing, packaging, and sensory evaluation principles.
- Solid working knowledge of food safety and quality standards (regulatory + customer), including FDA/USDA requirements and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in lab methods, testing equipment, intermediate math, and applied statistics for data-driven decision making.
- Experience conducting quality audits, risk assessments, and root‑cause / corrective action (RCA) investigations.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement, optimize processes, and support a high-performance food safety culture.
- Skilled in writing and interpreting SOPs, SSOPs, regulatory documents, troubleshooting guides, and technical manuals.
- Proficient in MS Office and QA software systems (spreadsheets, databases, documentation platforms).
