Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer serves as the primary interface between the organization and its customers on production‑related quality matters. This role is responsible for issue resolution, audit support, quality performance monitoring, and driving continuous improvement within an ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing environment. The position requires strong communication skills, technical problem‑solving abilities, and the capability to collaborate across departments to ensure customer satisfaction and product conformity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for customers regarding production quality concerns, escalations, and follow‑up actions.
  • Provide regular customer updates, quality performance reports, and support for formal business reviews.
  • Lead structured problem‑solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and Ishikawa diagrams.
  • Monitor and analyze quality metrics including PPM, warranty trends, and customer scorecard results.
  • Maintain and improve key quality documentation such as control plans, FMEAs, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality tools.
  • Work with Quality Engineering teams on PPAP, APQP, and new product launch readiness.
  • Assist with supplier investigations and corrective action activities when supplier issues impact customer quality.
  • Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and certification audits.
  • Promote and reinforce a strong quality culture across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5-8 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and core quality methodologies (FMEA, 8D, SPC, PPAP).
  • Experience supporting or interfacing directly with customers, including international or global accounts.
  • Background in machining, metal fabrication, or assembly operations preferred.
  • CQE or Six Sigma certification preferred.
