Job Overview

The Quality Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures that ensure products and processes meet defined quality standards throughout production. This role provides leadership across quality operations, oversees process and product testing, and applies extensive professional judgment to drive continuous improvement. The Quality Manager leads cross‑functional initiatives, manages team performance, and plays a key role in aligning operational goals with the organization's Business Quality Management System (BQMS).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and execution of work center goals in collaboration with department managers
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor quality initiatives, programs, and performance targets within schedule, cost, and quality constraints
  • Direct and supervise employees, including performance tracking and resource allocation
  • Coordinate with IT and Production teams to ensure appropriate tools, systems, workspace, and infrastructure are available
  • Partner with supervisors to manage interdependent operations and improve workflow efficiency
  • Establish work schedules, assignments, and staffing plans to meet production demands
  • Serve as the first level of management escalation for employee concerns, issues, or grievances
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and Human Resources on personnel matters
  • Champion Six Sigma methodologies and support lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Develop and manage operational and quality performance metrics
  • Support long‑term resource and capacity planning with IT and Production teams
  • Lead or contribute to special projects and perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of overall industry experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related quality or manufacturing function
  • Bachelor's degree or an additional 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Must meet the minimum qualifications for both Quality Engineer and Planner roles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and industry‑related software

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of raw materials, manufacturing processes, quality controls, and cost drivers
  • Ability to apply quality, cost, and schedule control techniques in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, basic shop math, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with people, material, and equipment resource planning, production methods, and ERP/MRP systems
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO and AS9100 quality standards
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems and quality‑specific software platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, develop, and lead teams, placing individuals in roles that best leverage their strengths
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, including evaluating the cost and benefit of potential actions
