DSJ Global is partnering with a leading international logistics organisation to appoint a Road & Rail Director to oversee and expand their land transportation business across Spain. This senior leadership role is suited to an experienced transport professional with a strong operational, commercial, and strategic background within the logistics service provider sector.

Position Overview

The Road & Rail Director will hold full responsibility for national road and rail operations, ensuring excellence in service delivery, operational efficiency, commercial growth, and organisational leadership. The successful candidate will drive strategic initiatives, strengthen the transport network, and lead a high‑performing team while aligning national activities with wider regional and global frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage the national Road & Rail organisation, with at least five years of proven team leadership experience.
  • Define and execute national strategies for road and rail operations, ensuring sustainable growth and performance improvement.
  • Oversee P&L responsibility, financial planning, and performance optimisation across the land transport business.
  • Enhance operational excellence across linehaul, distribution, multimodal solutions, and partner management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, internal stakeholders, and external partners across the market.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements while maintaining high service standards.
  • Implement and support digitalisation, process standardisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with regional and global management teams to ensure strategic alignment and effective operational integration.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience in land transportation (road transportation, rail transportation, or combined road/rail solutions).
  • Strong background within a Logistics Service Provider environment (e.g., freight forwarder, 3PL, multimodal transport operator).
  • Minimum 7 years of leadership experience, managing teams and driving organisational development.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience managing P&L, delivering transformation projects, and leading both operational and commercial functions.
  • Strong understanding of national and international transport networks, partner structures, compliance frameworks, and multimodal integration.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
  • A strategic mindset paired with the ability to operate hands‑on within a dynamic and evolving organisation.
