Senior Category Manager- Construction Services
Location: Hybrid (Philadelphia, PA | Newark, DE | Baltimore, MD)
Work Schedule: On-site 3 days/week (Tues-Thurs)
A leading energy provider is seeking a Senior Category Manager to join its dynamic procurement team. This role is ideal for a strategic sourcing professional with a strong background in construction services and a passion for driving value, mitigating risk, and building collaborative supplier relationships.
About the Role:
As a Senior Category Manager, you'll lead sourcing strategies and manage supplier relationships across multiple business units. You'll be responsible for negotiating commercial and legal terms, analyzing market trends, and ensuring supplier performance aligns with organizational goals. This is a high-impact role with visibility across departments and the opportunity to influence key procurement decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for construction-related categories.
- Lead competitive bidding, contract negotiations, and supplier selection processes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier performance and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including legal, engineering, and operations teams.
- Monitor supplier compliance with contractual obligations and performance metrics.
- Lead cross-functional teams on strategic sourcing initiatives and special projects.
- Conduct spend analysis and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, regulatory, and governance requirements.
- Mentor and guide procurement and sourcing team members.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4-7 years of relevant experience (or 6-9 years without a degree).
- Strong negotiation, project management, and data analysis skills.
- Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and resolve conflicts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sourcing tools.
- Willingness to travel to company and supplier sites as needed.
Preferred:
Deep understanding of construction services procurement.
Familiarity with utility or energy industry supply chains is a plus.
Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., NERC, CIP).
