Senior Production Manager
The Senior Production Manager provides leadership and operational oversight across all production activities, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, material management, and cost performance. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for developing employees, driving continuous improvement, managing capital projects, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards in a high‑performance, high‑mix manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a comprehensive safety program to ensure the safety of all employees while complying with federal, state, and local regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
- Oversee employee development through training, education, coaching, and teamwork to build a skilled and engaged workforce.
- Provide daily leadership, motivation, and support to employees; build a positive and productive work environment.
- Communicate operational issues, barriers, and improvement opportunities to the Plant Manager and leadership team.
- Establish efficient workflow practices to enhance speed and productivity without compromising product quality or safety.
- Create and manage employee schedules to maintain optimal staffing and operational coverage.
- Support development of the annual plant operating budget; achieve or exceed productivity, cost, and performance targets.
- Assist with employee relations matters and collaborate with HR to resolve employee concerns.
- Hire, train, mentor, and lead employees across diverse language, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen events, and other operational excellence efforts.
- Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demand, manage overtime, minimize inventory, and control costs.
- Support quality initiatives to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations; ensure completion of all required quality checks and audits.
- Build and maintain strong employee relationships to drive engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Provide coaching, counseling, and performance feedback; recommend and review disciplinary actions to ensure consistency.
- Identify, recommend, and implement capital improvement projects that strengthen overall operational performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proven record of strong safety leadership and commitment to safe work practices.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent; prior training in manufacturing, engineering, or safety preferred.
- Effective public speaking and group training skills.
- Ability to obtain Red Cross First Aid & CPR/AED certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, including creating SOPs, One Point Lessons, charts, graphs, and presentations.
- Strong work ethic with high integrity, trustworthiness, and ethical standards.
- Ability to work overtime and maintain a flexible schedule to support all shifts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to remain composed under pressure.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
