Senior Project Engineer

A well-established company in the paper and packaging industry is hiring a Senior Project Engineer to work under the Vice President of Operations. This role plays a vital part in developing and executing solutions for major strategic initiatives throughout the mill operations. The engineer will collaborate extensively with equipment vendors, project teams, and mill staff to identify effective technical approaches, support project execution, and ensure that all project targets are successfully met.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with leadership and business process owners to identify and implement strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies relevant to the pulp and paper industry and assess their potential for operational improvement.
  • Lead efforts in continuous improvement by integrating innovative technologies and optimizing existing processes.
  • Manage strategic projects by planning, tracking progress, controlling resources, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders and site leadership.
  • Conduct regular meetings with management and production teams to uncover challenges, propose solutions, and present comprehensive project plans and updates.
  • Potential travel up to 30%

Ideal Skillset:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the pulp and paper sector.
  • Demonstrates strong technical expertise specific to the industry.
  • Uses data to inform decisions and problem-solving.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Effective team collaborator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Embraces technology to achieve impactful results.
  • Builds strong working relationships across all organizational levels.
