Senior Regulatory Quality Manager - Remote
Position Overview
This senior-level role provides strategic leadership for food safety programs and regulatory compliance across multiple manufacturing operations in the U.S. The position ensures products meet federal regulatory requirements, supports factory teams in operationalizing food safety systems, and strengthens the organization's overall regulatory readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regulatory and food safety leadership for manufacturing sites producing items governed by federal food safety agencies.
- Guide factory and corporate quality teams on regulatory expectations, risk mitigation, and process improvements.
- Develop and deliver training to enhance regulatory awareness across factories and functional partners.
- Support site inspections, assess outcomes, and identify network-wide trends to ensure corrective actions are shared and sustained.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert during special situations requiring rapid interpretation of regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal partners - including legal, quality, technical teams, and government affairs, to align on regulatory strategies and respond to emerging issues.
- Contribute to HACCP policy development, provide program support, and ensure teams understand food safety fundamentals.
- Monitor industry developments, evaluate their potential impact, and translate insights into actionable guidance.
- Assist with adjacent compliance programs such as organic certification, animal welfare standards, and cross-border regulatory matters.
- Foster strong working relationships with relevant agencies and industry groups on behalf of the organization.
- Provide leadership, feedback, and development support to direct reports and cross-functional partners.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred, ideally in food safety, food microbiology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum seven years of experience in food safety, regulatory affairs, or quality systems within manufacturing environments.
- Strong ability to assess food safety risks using data, observation, and root cause analysis.
- Experience influencing cross-functional teams, managing change, and driving quality culture.
- Proven communication skills, including presenting, training, and writing technical reports.
- Demonstrated capability to justify and communicate operational or capital needs related to corrective actions.
- People leadership experience, including coaching, development, and performance management.
- Solid understanding of quality systems such as HACCP, ISO frameworks, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong project management skills, prioritization, and follow-through.
- Ability to travel up to approximately 15% based on business needs.
