Sourcing Director - OEM - China
We are partnering with a rapidly growing consumer electronics organization seeking an experienced Sourcing Director to lead its OEM sourcing and supplier management strategy across China. This is a critical leadership position responsible for driving supplier performance, cost competitiveness, product commercialization, and supply continuity across a diverse portfolio of consumer electronic products.
The successful candidate will be a commercially astute sourcing leader with deep knowledge of the China manufacturing landscape, strong OEM/ODM partner networks, and a proven track record of managing complex supplier ecosystems while supporting global business growth.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing Leadership
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with global business objectives and product roadmaps.
- Build and optimize a high-performing supplier network across China for consumer electronics products and components.
- Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, risk mitigation, and cost optimization.
- Lead make-versus-buy analyses and supplier selection decisions for new product initiatives.
Supplier & OEM Management
- Serve as the executive relationship owner for key OEM, ODM, EMS, and component suppliers.
- Negotiate long-term commercial agreements to improve cost, quality, delivery, and innovation outcomes.
- Establish supplier performance scorecards and conduct regular business reviews with strategic partners.
- Drive supplier development initiatives to improve manufacturing capabilities, productivity, and compliance standards.
Cost & Performance Optimization
- Deliver annual cost reduction targets through strategic negotiations, value engineering, and supply base optimization.
- Analyze market trends, commodity pricing movements, and manufacturing cost structures.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins while maintaining product quality and service standards.
Supply Chain Risk Management
- Monitor supplier financial health, capacity constraints, geopolitical factors, and operational risks.
- Develop contingency sourcing plans and business continuity strategies.
- Lead crisis management efforts during supply disruptions or quality escalations.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and develop a team of sourcing and procurement professionals across China.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Establish sourcing KPIs and drive performance against business objectives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Engineering, Business, Electronics, or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or supplier management experience within consumer electronics.
- Proven experience managing OEM, ODM, EMS, or contract manufacturing relationships in China.
- Strong understanding of consumer electronic products and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated success leading complex supplier negotiations and multi-million-dollar sourcing programs.
- Experience supporting product commercialization, NPI, and global supply chain operations.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent analytical and financial management skills.
- Proven leadership experience managing regional or global sourcing teams.
- Fluency of English, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese is a must
