Strategic Buyer - Die Casting & Assemblies (M/F/D)
We are currently partnering with a growing manufacturing company seeking a proactive and resourceful Strategic Buyer - Die Casting & Assemblies to lead the global procurement of die-cast components and mechanical assemblies. The ideal candidate will take ownership of our sourcing strategy, focusing on cost optimisation, supplier quality, and timely deliveries to support our production goals. You will collaborate closely with internal teams to streamline procurement processes and ensure the company remains competitive in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement cost-effective sourcing strategies for die-cast parts and mechanical assemblies, aligned with company objectives.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers, negotiating terms that ensure cost savings, delivery reliability, and high-quality standards.
- Cost Optimisation: Drive cost-reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, alternative sourcing, and value engineering.
- Market Research: Monitor trends and developments in the die casting and manufacturing sectors to identify opportunities for competitive advantage.
- Procurement Planning: Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure procurement strategies support operational needs and project time lines.
- Supplier Risk Management: Evaluate supplier performance and reliability, manage risks, and develop contingency plans for potential supply chain disruptions.
- Contract Management: Negotiate and manage supply agreements, ensuring favourable terms and long-term partnerships with key suppliers.
- Inventory Control: Collaborate with inventory and logistics teams to ensure just-in-time (JIT) delivery while maintaining production continuity.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and supplier performance.
- Sustainability Focus: Promote sustainable sourcing practices, including the selection of environmentally responsible materials and suppliers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in strategic purchasing, preferably in die casting, mechanical assemblies, or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of die casting processes, materials, and supply chains.
- Proven negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
- Familiarity with procurement planning and cost control in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or similar tools.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities suited to a mid-sized business environment.
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
