Strategic Sourcing Specialist - Industrial Components
SUMMARY
We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to lead supplier management, sourcing initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and supply continuity for mechanical components, spare parts, and industrial equipment-related categories. This individual will be responsible for evaluating and developing suppliers, negotiating pricing and commercial terms, identifying sourcing opportunities, and ensuring consistent supply of critical parts that support business operations and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience sourcing mechanical or engineered components within a manufacturing, industrial equipment, aftermarket parts, or engineered products environment. Success in this role requires strong supplier management capabilities, analytical skills, commercial negotiation experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Planning, Operations, Logistics, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage strategic supplier relationships for assigned mechanical components, spare parts, and industrial equipment categories.
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to reduce risk, improve availability, and enhance overall supply chain performance.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, contracts, and commercial terms while maintaining strong supplier partnerships.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that improve quality, delivery performance, and total cost of ownership.
- Lead supplier performance reviews and monitor key metrics including cost, quality, service levels, and on-time delivery.
- Drive annual cost savings initiatives through supplier negotiations, sourcing changes, localization efforts, transportation optimization, and working capital improvements.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning, Transportation, and Operations teams to support business objectives and sourcing strategies.
- Analyze spend, supplier performance, inventory trends, and purchasing data to identify risks and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support sourcing activities for critical categories including machined components, fabricated parts, castings, bearings, motors, valves, pumps, assemblies, service parts, and related industrial components.(Category examples added based on the nature of the role and industry.)
- Ensure reliable supply of critical parts while balancing inventory, working capital, and service level objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 4+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, purchasing, supplier management, supply chain, or related functions.
- Experience sourcing mechanical components, industrial equipment parts, engineered products, service parts, spare parts, assemblies, or similar categories.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating pricing, supplier agreements, and commercial terms.
- Experience managing supplier performance and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret purchasing, inventory, and supplier data.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience utilizing ERP systems to manage purchasing and supplier-related activities
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
