Test Manager/Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Test Manager/Engineer to lead and execute comprehensive testing of transformers and related electrical machines. This role is critical in ensuring product quality, reliability, and compliance with international standards. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Standards Compliance: Ensure all testing activities align with IEC, ANSI, IS, and other relevant standards.
- Test Planning & Execution: Develop and implement detailed test plans for routine, type, and special tests.
- Dielectric & Insulation Testing: Conduct high-voltage and insulation resistance tests to evaluate performance and safety.
- Instrumentation & Calibration: Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Oil & Environmental Testing: Perform transformer oil analysis (DGA, dielectric strength) and simulate environmental conditions to assess operational resilience.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate test failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Generate comprehensive test reports, documenting results, observations, and deviations.
- Final Acceptance Testing: Conduct pre-dispatch testing to verify compliance with technical specifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, and R&D teams to provide feedback for product enhancement.
- Safety & Training: Enforce safety protocols and provide training to junior engineers and technicians.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in testing methodologies and equipment utilization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; or 8-10 years of equivalent experience with an Associate's degree.
- Proven experience in testing medium-voltage transformers in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior supervisory experience in a fabrication or test shop.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
