Training Manager

The Training Manager leads technical training and employee development for a food manufacturing site, ensuring the workforce has the skills and knowledge needed to meet safety, quality, and performance goals. This role drives training strategy, builds effective learning programs, and partners closely with site leadership to support operational excellence and continuous improvement. This role will be based in the greater Columbus, GA area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a site-wide technical training strategy aligned with operational goals
  • Design and maintain role-based training curricula, learning paths, and skills matrices
  • Lead onboarding, qualification, and requalification programs for hourly and salaried employees
  • Apply adult learning principles to create engaging training content (SOPs, OPLs, eLearning, video)
  • Manage and optimize Learning Management Systems and digital training tools
  • Lead and coach trainers and subject matter experts through train-the-trainer programs
  • Track training effectiveness using KPIs and performance data; adjust programs as needed
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and HR to ensure alignment
  • Maintain visibility on the production floor, including off-shift support as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Engineering, Organizational Development, or related field (STEM preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical training in a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and competency-based training systems
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Alchemy, Docebo, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Lean, TPM, or operational excellence methodologies
  • Strong communication, coaching, and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
