Director of Process Engineering
The Director of Process Engineering serves as a key strategic leader responsible for building and guiding the onsite engineering team within the production facility. This role demands strong leadership, accountability, sound decision-making, and the ability to work independently. The position oversees the entire design process, starting from initial project concepts through implementation and final closeout. Responsibilities include evaluating vendor qualifications, reviewing and negotiating bid documents, and ensuring successful project execution and system performance. Additionally, the role provides timely support for daily manufacturing operations, focusing on troubleshooting, process optimization, and waste reduction. Maintaining food safety standards and product quality is also a critical aspect of this position.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide technical expertise for processing systems, utilities, and wastewater operations, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, improve yields, and maintain quality and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Lead engineering design and documentation, including conceptual layouts, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications, while coordinating with vendors and contractors.
- Support project execution and risk management, including automation integration, FMEA assessments, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain operational readiness, overseeing process changes, documentation libraries, and transition of capital projects to production teams.
Requirements Include:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or related engineering
- Extensive food & beverage industry experience, dairy manufacturing experience required
- At least 3+ years of experience leading technical teams
