Biotech CDMO - Global Sourcing Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Market Intelligence
- Collaborate closely with the Associate Director, Direct Procurement (Nansha) on sourcing activities and the development of Key Sourcing Partner networks across different geographies.
- Perform sourcing, market research, and data mining for materials supporting assigned customer proposals and early‑phase projects.
- Support preparation of presentations addressing business and procurement expectations, including raw material opportunities and challenges.
- Support data entry, analysis, and maintenance of reports and key sourcing deliverables.
- Early‑Phase Project & Program Support
- Understand the scope, priorities, and timelines of allocated customer proposals and early‑phase projects.
- Collaborate with program owners to identify strategic sourcing milestones, timelines, and task ownership.
- Develop sourcing strategies to drive supplier integration into active programs and address specific technical challenges.
- Directly engage on key program sourcing milestones together with category owners to ensure business continuity and alignment with customer and business needs.
- Pricing & Initial Sourcing Strategy Ownership
- Take direct responsibility for providing pricing from a minimum of two qualified sources from different geographies for Key Starting Materials.
- Define initial sourcing strategies for customer proposals and early‑stage projects, ensuring a Right First-Time approach.
- Support implementation of standardized templates and sourcing tools to improve granularity, transparency, and visibility.
- Clearly communicate sourcing milestones and progress with the procurement leadership team.
- Supplier Evaluation & Relationship Management
- Support fast‑track supplier evaluation models during the customer proposal stage to identify suitable manufacturers and partners.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and Key Sourcing Partners aligned to delegated customer proposals and early‑phase projects.
- Cost Optimization & Value Creation
- Drive cost‑saving initiatives by developing a pipeline of improvement projects and realizing savings across assigned suppliers or products.
- Track site‑level savings performance and identify cost opportunities, risks, and improvement areas.
- Support specification standardization across sites and regions.
- Optimize supplier payment terms and promote best‑practice sharing and cross‑site synergies.
- Processes, Tools & Compliance
- Ensure sourcing activities comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements applicable to a CDMO environment.
- Support rollout and adherence to procurement procedures, policies, and guidelines.
- Stakeholder Management
- Identify and engage internal stakeholders, including Operations, Quality (QA & QC), Technical Services, Commercial, Sales, Supply Chain, Project Management, and R&D, as required.
- Clarify stakeholder and customer requirements and support proactive communication within program governance frameworks.
- Knowledge Sharing & Sustainability
- Share knowledge and sourcing best practices across the organization.
- Support the global procurement team on sustainability and decarbonization initiatives related to China‑based suppliers, aligned with global KPI targets.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or MBA preferred
- Preferred academic background: Engineering or Chemistry
- Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory
- 7+ years of operations experience, including 4-5 years in Procurement / Strategic Sourcing
- Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Experience in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, food, or similar) preferred
- Demonstrated experience in category management and procurement
- Strong business and financial acumen with solid procurement expertise
- Hands‑on experience across procurement processes, including:
- Commodity/category management
- Supplier management and development
- Negotiation and contract management

- Strong research, analysis, and executive summarization skills
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management capability
- Experience managing global internal and external relationships
- Strong project management and execution skills
