Continuous Improvement Specialist - Industrial Manufacturing

Summary
A leading manufacturer in the industrial equipment and energy‑transmission sector is seeking a Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist to strengthen Lean practices, enhance process efficiency, and cultivate a culture of ongoing improvement across its U.S. operations. This role supports multiple manufacturing groups and collaborates closely with engineering, operations, and site leadership to drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a structured coaching program focused on Kata methodologies and continuous learning.
  • Train employees and leaders on Lean principles, CI tools, and daily management routines.
  • Facilitate 5S activities, Lean training sessions, kaizen events, and cross‑functional workshops.
  • Audit visual management boards and guide teams in identifying obstacles, eliminating waste, and executing PDCA cycles.
  • Support implementation of flow improvements, kanban/pull systems, inventory control strategies, and standard work.
  • Conduct value stream mapping, identify bottlenecks, and create action plans with clear ownership and timelines.
  • Track CI metrics, communicate progress, and help teams sustain improvements through coaching and accountability.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to reinforce Lean behaviors and drive change.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of hands‑on CI/Lean exposure within a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Strong facilitation and training skills; experience with Kata preferred.
  • Proficiency in Lean tools such as 5S, kaizen, VSM, kanban, and standard work.
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret technical documentation, and present recommendations to all levels of the organization.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence without direct authority.

Work Environment
This position operates within a manufacturing setting that produces heavy‑duty industrial equipment, including mechanical and electromechanical components used in energy and data transmission systems. Candidates should be comfortable working on the production floor, engaging with teams, and supporting shop‑level improvement efforts.
