Divisional Accounting Manager

Location: Newark, CA (Hybrid)
Travel: Up to 25%
Employment Type: Full‑Time | Exempt
Salary: $140,000 - $180,000

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Divisional Accounting Manager to lead cost accounting, inventory valuation, and financial reporting for a key business unit. This role partners closely with operations to drive profitability, improve cost controls, and ensure accurate financial reporting in a dynamic production environment.

This is a highly visible leadership role overseeing accounting operations while providing critical insights to support business performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own the month‑end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
  • Manage general ledger and financial reporting for the division
  • Lead cost accounting activities, including standard costing, BOMs, and variance analysis
  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and partner with operations on improvements
  • Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliation, and controls
  • Monitor COGS, margins, and product profitability
  • Provide financial insights to support pricing and operational decisions
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Utilize ERP systems (Epicor) for reporting, costing, and inventory tracking
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and reporting

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and develop accounting team members
  • Set performance expectations and conduct reviews
  • Partner cross‑functionally with operations, supply chain, and leadership
  • Build a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience with inventory accounting and cost controls
  • Hands‑on ERP experience (Epicor preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership capabilities
  • U.S. Person status required (ITAR compliance)
